This post is about how specific fandoms will be grouped or separated out.  If a fandom is listed here with the parts being separated out then any All Media Types nomination of that fandom will be rejected.  This is your chance, between now and August 31, to make suggestions on how certain fandoms are handled.  You may make suggestions for fandoms not on this list.  When making suggestions include the realistic pros and cons of your suggestion. 

Another post will go up later with general guidelines.  This post is just for discussing fandoms.

Each game features a unique protagonist, but the events of Origins overlap with the events of Dragon Age 2. Further, the events of Dragon Age 2 factor heavily in the events of Inquisition. While each game has its own protagonist, characters appear in multiple games. (In fact, Hawke -- the protagonist of 2 -- appears in a quest subplot of Inquisition.)

Dragon Age 2 is a sequel to Origins; Inquisition is a sequel to Dragon Age 2. You CAN play the 2nd without playing the 1st (I did) or the 3rd without the others, but you understand far less about the world in which it takes place and why your character's decisions matter.

I don't know if you're familiar with the Mass Effect games, but because they come from the same developer, I'll say: You should view the three Dragon Age games as more like the Mass Effect trilogy than viewing them like the trilogy versus Mass Effect: Andromeda.

That said, I'd definitely vote for the Dragon Age (Video Games) tag. Like others have pointed out, we can nominate characters, and our optional details can offer information about preferred time period.

There's one set of characters (µ's) that appears in the original anime and manga, and one set (Aqours) that appears in the Sunshine!! spin-off. Then the mobile game has both µ's and Aqours, as well as game-only characters.

I've already said above that I withdraw my suggestion about Witcher, since matching is on individual character and I can easily not offer the characters from the games I haven't played.

These aren't really different parts of a fandom, but different adaptations:

The Dallas 2014 staging uses a contemporary, dystopian setting instead of 19th century France, and Shoujo Cosette is an anime based on Les Misérables which changes the ending and introduces several original side characters.

The pros of having them as seperated fandoms are that people who want to request/offer these more unknown adaptations could actually get matched on them. And I can't really see any cons because people who only want to offer/receive fic/art based on the novel would still have that option.

Belatedly fourthing (?) the request for a single "Dragon Ages (Video Games)" tag instead of separating the games! They're direct sequels, and there are plot threads and character arcs that continue through all three games.

I'd like to nominate MCU characters from Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Should they be placed under the blanket fandom of Marvel Cinematic Universe, under the names of the specific movies, or under MCU but disambiguated somehow?

I'm wondering how to nominate for Rick Riordan's Demigods series--on AO3 they're split up into Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, and The Trials of Apollo, but they all take place in the same universe and whereas the Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard are more loosely connected to the other series, POJ/HOO/TOA share a lot of characters and continuity.

Oh and also--I saw that the character Michael Madsen has been approved in Stand Still Stay Silent. There are two Michael Madsens in Stand Still Stay Silent, though, so you should probably ask the nominator which one they meant?

I personally would suggest "Percy Jackson and the Olympians & Related Fandoms - All Media Types" for PJO/HOO/TOA, and separate nominations of Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase.

The problem with "All Media Types" is that it includes the movies, which is definitely not what I want. But the bigger problem is that I got impatient and went ahead and nominated everything under "Heroes of Olympus", because that's where most of the characters I'm interested in had the most prominent roles.

I'm having trouble with some of my last-minute noms for Fate/Grand Order because somebody has apparently already nominated the characters (with their canonical F/GO disambiguators) under "Fate/stay night and Related Fandoms." The characters I've been unable to nominate are Mash Kyrielight and the Female Protagonist of F/GO; neither of them appear in F/sn or any of the offshoot material that's part of the same immediate continuity.

I don't think the Fate/ series should be combined because it involves a lot of separate continuities/alternate timelines across multiple media, some of which involve the same characters, so if the whole franchise is one fandom then it becomes impossible to offer/request specifically the parts of the canon that one knows.

I've stopped accepting Fate nominations for the moment but go ahead and nominate under Fate/Grand Order. I need to get a final idea of what Fate related nominations are before I can decide how to merge/split things up. For the ones that have been nominated under other parts of the fandom just use a slightly different disambiguation so it will be accepted.

In most exchanges everyone uses the All Media Types tag for Fate/. I may have to rethink this for future rounds.

I think the English-language release of Grand Order is probably complicating the Fate/ fandom landscape more than usual in recent exchanges, since it's the series' AU phone game (like Avengers Academy is for Marvel) -- duplicating a lot of characters and also reaching a lot of new fans.

Hi, just wondering how to nominate Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel: the Series. Angel was a main character in BtVS for the first three seasons before getting a spinoff, and many other characters have had crossover appearances or even moved from one show to the other permanently.

Should I nominate as Buffyverse, or as Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Related Fandoms, or as two separate fandoms?
