Tagset Nominations are Open
This is mostly a copy and paste from last year. The goblins will be around to approve things but I will be touch and go for a few days. I'm using the same fandom guidelines as last year.
Nominations are now open!
You can nominate six fandoms with six characters each.
You may nominate generic original characters such as Original Male Elf, Original Sailor Senshi, Original Tag Wrangler, etc. We will not be accepting specific original characters.
Do not use any fan nicknames when nominating characters. Describe the character instead.
We will not be accepting group or relationship nominations. If there is a character that is a special case in that they could sort of count as one individual or many then leave a comment to explain it to me.
The category of Original Works is allowed. Crossover Fandoms is not. All crossovers should be limited to your optional details.
There are three rules for RPF:
1. For contemporary RPF the individuals must be over the age of 18.
2. Non-famous friends and family are not eligible
3. The person in question can be removed from the tagset at the request of the individual
I will be prioritizing fandoms that are easy for me to accept. If you want to get your nominations accepted faster then here is how to help:
1. Check the fandom guidelines to see if your fandom should be done a specific way.
2. Disambiguate your characters. It makes it less likely for me to make mistakes and is faster. Disambiguating never hurts.
3. Make sure you are spelling the character’s name correctly, especially if the character’s name is spelt differently in different canons.
4. Link me info! If you want to link me to something like the fandom wiki page for each character then that is great! TVtropes character list page? That could work. IMDB? Wikipedia? If I don’t know a fandom I have to look it up and this will speed things up especially for small fandoms, Transformers, Tolkien, and comics.

Um...Also, my Star Trek: the Original Series nominations had (TOS) next to them, but now say (Taping Our Sloth) LMAO
I noticed (Alicorns Offer Soup) next to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D characters, and I'm guessing they were disambiguated as (AOS).
It's the best thing I've seen all day, but might cause problems down the line...

EDIT: I have seen this in a few more places that seem kind of deliberate (Warring Stars and More Warring Stars for Star Wars Original Trilogy and Star Wars Sequel Trilogy) and I am now assuming you're doing it to prevent character drift between related fandoms. If so, awesome work!

I would like to know if one of the people that volunteered has a history of poor exchange behavior. Would it be possible for yourself or someone else to either send me a list of what transpired and where through the Yulechat Discord or in an email sent to halloweenmod@gmail.com? Only I have access to the mod accounts. This would be a matter that I'd like to know more about, but it is also one that I do not want to have on the posts.

To help with one of my nominations (Palo Santo Music Videos - Years & Years), here's the band's press release for their Palo Santo album, which covers most of it:
http://machinemanagement.co.uk/news/years-years-release-album-and-short-film-palo-santo
The link clarifies the character names I've nominated and which music videos are included.
If you need any more info, do let me know.
Many thanks!

Here's the character page for Darrin on the wikia. I think his canonical tag might be the Darrin without a last name, but I wasn't sure.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-03 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)Two of the fandoms I've just nominated are spin-offs of other canons. "Endeavour" is a prequel to the TV series "Inspector Morse", so there is some overlap of characters between the two, eg. Endeavour Morse, Jim Strange, Max DeBryn. Thought it might be worth mentioning, since "Morse" has already been nominated!
Endeavour Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endeavour_(TV_series)
Also, the BBC series "Dickensian" is a shared universe canon, featuring characters and storylines from several Charles Dickens novels, such as "Great Expectations" and "Bleak House". In my nomination, I've entered the characters' names as specific to the TV series - eg. "Inspector Bucket (Dickensian TV)" - but I'm aware that there still might be some character tag drift.
BBC One home page for Dickensian, including a list of characters: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06vbmfq
If you need any more information on these canons, I'll be happy to help!

Some of the characters I nominated are described here:

I also nominated Elizabeth Sanderson. She's related to the Sandersons from the original movie but she's a new character.

The one issue is with what in previous years I have nominated as Reynardine (Traditional Ballad) [further info]. This is how it's always previously appeared, and indeed how the only story in the fandom is tagged. It's also the same pattern as eg Tam Lin (Traditional Ballad), Thomas the Rhymer (Traditional Ballad) or Scarborough Fair (Traditional Ballad).
But for some reason, the canonical tag on AO3 has been changed to Reynardine | The Mountains High - Anonymous (Song). It seems a shame to lose the 'Traditional Ballad' part of the tag, which makes it quick in exchanges to see what ballads have been nominated, but if ToT has a policy of going with the canonical name, it should of course be the current piped version. The problem is the canonical character tags - the fair maid/young woman/young lady has been synned to The Farmer's Daughter, despite only being identified as that in some versions. If it's possible, I would really prefer to keep the less specific name (I have nominated her as The Young Woman), which applies equally to all versions of the song, including I think the majority of modern recordings.

I've included character names that I know in my nominations. The majority of the characters are known in the movie by the room they're assigned at the Artemis. (ie, Sterling K Brown's character is called Waikiki, and Sofia Boutella's character is called Nice.) The Nurse's assistant (Dave Bautista's character) is only called Everest.
Also, Waikiki and Nice will not stay capitalized for me in AO3 no matter how many times I try to edit :(

(Anonymous) 2018-09-04 12:37 am (UTC)(link)Casa Surace is a light-hearted Italian web series, both canon and RPF, as the characters play their own identities most of the time. Ricky and Pasqui are two of the main "cast". They became famous through vids posted on YouTube.

Happy Feet (Penguins RPF) - This is the emperor penguin who was discovered on Peka Peka Beach, New Zealand, in 2011. He was nicknamed after the animated movie, but he is an actual historical figure, and not a movie character.
Wikipedia entry on penguins (section mentioning Happy Feet)
Tango (Penguins RPF) - This is the chinstrap penguin who was famously hatched and raised by Roy and Silo. She inspired a picture book called And Tango Makes Three, but I am nominating the actual historical figure, and not the fictionalised book character.
