The PumpkinKing is Dead. Long Live the PumpkinKing
Countdown to when works are due
Hello,
For the past five years I have been the PumpkinKing. There have been many ups and downs over the years but every year it has always been rewarding seeing everyone’s excitement on Halloween when they get their gifts.
Much has changed in the exchange landscape, and I think for the better. There is so much more diversity in exchanges and so many new mods taking the stage. It’s a wonderful sight!
I have mentioned in the past that I am pursuing a career that will make my availability uncertain. It’s starting to come together. My chosen career is a fun one, but one that can end up with surprise long hours that might leave me unable to properly fulfil my duties as mod.
That is why, after this round, I will no longer be the PumpkinKing. This is not the end of Trick or Treat. We have a new PumpkinKing, who is currently involved in a training montage set to 80s music. How public they want to be with their new secret identity is up to them, but I trust them with the exchange.
I will be staying on to assist them as a sub mod. I will not be a shadow king or a backseat ruler. I will offer my opinions and advice to them in private, but they will have the final say. I don’t want Trick or Treat to be a monument to me. I want it to grow with a new PumpkinKing and when they are ready to step aside I hope they pass it on to a third.
In order for the new mod to start with a clean slate I am coming forward publicly so that I am accountable for both the good and bad decisions I’ve made over the years (and I’ve definitely made both). To respect the privacy of others as much as possible, the EveryWoman exchanges will be removed from the PumpkinKing account and transferred fully to the new mods while the Halloween Mod email account will be cleared out before the transfer of power.
There are currently no plans for major changes next year, but after that it will be all up to the new PumpkinKing.
