There are two parts to the community challenge.
Part 1 – Challenge Yourself
This challenge is to see one hundred works where the creator challenged themselves to go outside their comfort zones and do something different. Maybe you are a fan of spy movies and you write a fic for an anime fandom? Maybe you are a drabble writer and you try writing long fic? Maybe you are an artist that tries a new style? How you challenge yourself is up to yourself. At reveals there will be a post where you can talk about how you challenged yourself.
If you create something for this challenge and you don’t feel comfortable gifting it to the participant that inspired it that is okay. You can gift it to the PumpkinKing account, leave it without a recipient, or instead put it in the author’s notes who inspired it. I won’t be policing to see if you adequately challenged yourself. If you feel that you challenged yourself then it counts.
Tag your works for this as “Trick or Treat: Challenge Yourself”
Part 2 – Shopping List
There were over twelve hundred nominations. I’m still not completely finished with adjusting the groups and making the nice, easy to reference list, there are some groups that I want to change and I’ll be compiling a list for the numbers for each category. But I wanted to get this out while people could still modify their sign-ups to include any mentions of these that might interest them. I admit that this didn’t go exactly as I planned.
There are currently 465 categories.
-No matter how many people nominated 2 gifts per person, that is only counted as a challenge once.
-Drabbles can only be used for extra gifts. Regular assignments must still hit the required word count
-I left the tags as nominated except for adding my notes about number and where they were initially grouped.
-For the items that say gifts for a certain number of fandoms in the tagset I will only count requested fandoms.
-Ones that say X number of a particular tag, such as "75 explicit works" will be treated as a +1 to explicit works. I apologize for not being clearer in the instructions.
This challenge will be completed with 80% of the items are scratched off the list.
