Welcome back to another sweet and spooky Trick or Treat! Nominations are open. They close on September 8 at 7:59 PM EDT/23:59 UTC.

Countdown until nominations end.

You may nominate up to 10 fandoms with 10 characters or relationships in each.


Nominations format

You can nominate characters and/or relationships under each fandom you nominate. For AO3 matching algorithm reasons, both characters and relationships are nominated under the “Characters” slot in the tag set, and ships should be specified by including “Ship:” in front of the pairing.

All fandoms in the tag set need to be nominated with at least one character or relationship tag under that fandom.

For all tags:
Please nominate original works under the fandom Original Work.

Please avoid using pipes where possible and do not use diacritics/tone marks where unnecessary.

All character and ship nominations must be disambiguated. (See below for an explanation!)

Please use the name order as in the canon ("Given Name Family Name" for most western canons, "Family Name Given Name" for most Asian canons).

For relationship tags:
Relationships must include "Ship:" in front of the pairing.

You may nominate / or & relationships. "A/B" is a romantic or sexual relationship; "A & B" is a platonic relationship.

Please alphabetize ships by family name.

Please nominate crossovers under the fandom Crossover Fandom, with ships in the format:
Ship: Yuri Plisetsky (YOI) & Rajah (Aladdin).

What is disambiguation?

This means adding the fandom in brackets after your nomination. Some examples:

Ship: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson (BBC Sherlock)
Ship: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson (Sherlock Holmes - ACD)

Ship: Enoshima Junko/Tsumiki Mikan (DR Hope's Peak)
Ship: James "Bucky" Barnes & Steve Rogers (Marvel 616)

Before nominating, please check if your fandom is already in the tagset, and what disambiguations were used. Your nominations get approved faster if they are already in the correct format.

Specific Fandom Nomination Guidelines

MCU movies should be nominated together under Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Netflix shows should be nominated under The Defenders (Marvel TV). Other Marvel shows should be nominated separately.

Marvel Comics should be nominated by the characters' native universe, e.g. Marvel 616.

DC Comics should be nominated together under DCU (Comics). You may specify timeline (e.g. Pre-Flashpoint) in the disambiguation.

Arrowverse TV shows should be nominated together under DC's Arrowverse.

All DCEU movies should be nominated together under DC Extended Universe.

Buffyverse (TV) consists of the television shows for both Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV) and Angel: The Series.

Doctor Who is divided between 1963, 2005, and Torchwood.

Danganronpa has the original continuity ("Danganronpa - Hope’s Peak Arc") while Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is separate.

Star Trek should be divided by show, with Star Trek: Alternate Original Series (Movies) separate.

Star Wars should be divided into Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Star Wars Original Trilogy, Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, the standalone movies, then the individual properties, e.g. The Mandalorian (TV).

Ace Attorney and The Great Ace Attorney are two separate fandoms. Please use localized names where applicable, i.e, "Miles Edgeworth" and "Herlock Sholmes."

Final Fantasy VII Remake is separate from the Compilation of FFVII.

Would you like "Star Wars Legends" to count as its own individual property, or would you prefer "Thrawn Trilogy - Timothy Zahn (Legends EU)", "The New Jedi Order - Various Authors (Legends EU)", etc. as individual properties?

I wanted to ask whether you want Top Gun (1986) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022) nominated/tagged separately, or under Top Gun (Movies)? AO3 has merged the tags, but since the films take place 36 years apart and only have two common characters, it's been a source of confusion for the fandom, and I wanted to see how you specifically want us to tag so we don't make more work for you.

Is the marvel Netflix TV shows tag going to be changed eventually? They’re all under Disney+ now and characters appearing in other shows and daredevil: born again is going to be one of those shows. Thanks!

Hello, my nominations for Fire Emblem Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes hasn't been reviewed yet. Should I submit them as part of the same fandom (FE3H) since it's in the same universe?

I also nominated these two games and did so separately as they're separate on AO3. Three Hopes is an AU of the world introduced in Three Houses, rather than a sequel.

Separate is fine, since it's an AU!

The AO3 interface shows me nominations in random order, so a delay in me getting to your nominations isn't necessarily because there's an issue with them :)

Nomination question for mods

I have a nomination for a very rare fandom, and I'm not sure how to list it or if it's allowed.

It's, um, a 30 year vision Powerpoint presentation (saved as a PDF) for a huge multinational corporation, unveiled back in 2010. The PDF is here. It's 133 pages (slides) long, and I have honestly never seen a work so deserving of being made into a seasonal exchange fandom.

So...
1. Is this allowed, and if it is,
2. How do I tag it? I'm going with
SoftBank Next 30-Year Vision (2010 corporate PDF)
for the fandom unless you'd prefer something else.

Thanks for asking! As long as you have characters or relationships in mind to fit the fandom, it's totally allowed. Your proposed tag sounds good -- when I googled it, it brought up the PDF, so that works.

Just a heads-up re: Doctor Who (Big Finish Audio) tags : Ship: Eighth Doctor/Charlotte Pollard is the same as Ship: Eighth Doctor/Charley Pollard. My screw-up, I accidentally selected the tag with Charlotte in it when it popped up. Eighth Doctor/Charley Pollard is much more common, I think you could delete the other version. Sorry for the confusion!

I was trying to nominate Dimension 20 RPF as a fandom, didn't realize it autocorrected to Dimension 20 (Webseries) which is an already approved fandom so now I can't edit that fandom slot or renominate the correct fandom with those specific character/ships. Help?

It looks like you have space left in your nominations, so the simplest fix would be:

- Go to edit your nominations
- Delete the RPF ships
- Save the nominations
- Nominate the RPF fandom again under a different name -- I checked and "Dimension 20 Real Person Fiction" isn't synned to the main fandom tag
- Save the nominations
- Nominate the RPF ships under that fandom when you've confirmed it didn't merge
- Save the nominations (of course!)

Hopefully that helps -- let me know if you have any other issues!

Ok so it's not letting me do any of that. I can delete my character/ship noms initially but when I try to save my nominations after deleting them i keep getting this message

"Sorry! We couldn't save this tag set nomination because: You seem to be trying to nominate Dimension 20 (Web Series) more than once."

and when I reload my nom page everything is still there.
