Each request has to have at least one fandom, one character or ship, one trick/treat & fic/art preference. Fandoms must be unique to each request. Matching is OR, which means the person assigned to you will include one fandom you requested, one character or ship from that fandom, using one media and trick/treat combo you requested.

You must make 3-10 requests. Each request has one fandom, 1-20 characters/relationships, and 1-4 medium/preference tags.

You must make 4-10 offers. Each offer has one fandom, 1-20 characters/relationships, and 1-4 medium/preference tags.

For offers, "Any" can be selected for characters/relationships and mediums. "Any" means any nominated character or relationship from that fandom, not any character/ship in the fandom in general. If only one character/ship is nominated for a fandom you want to offer then just select Any to make sign-ups work.

You may give suggestions for trick, treats, general likes and dislikes. For things that you absolutely do not want to get in any way, shape, or form, include a section CLEARLY marked "Do Not Wants". In order for me to enforce your Do Not Wants they must be in the AO3 signup.

There are optional tags to opt in and out of different extra gift preferences. If you have "I am not interested in receiving extra gifts" that supersedes either "You may ignore my Art/Fic preferences for extra gifts" and "You may ignore my Trick/Treat preferences for extra gifts."

You do not need to use these tags if you don't want to. Not using any means that you are fine with extra gifts, but they should match your art/fic and trick/treat preferences.

Extra Gift Preferences

If you do not want any extra gifts you may select "I am not interested in receiving extra gifts." This does not mean you can't be double assigned. This does mean that you will not be counted towards any community challenges regarding giving x amount of gifts per person.

Additional note on extra gifts:

Last year, AO3 implemented a change in how gifting works. You can read more about it here, but the gist is that new accounts no longer default to allowing gifts.

If you would like to receive extra gifts, make sure your gifts preferences are set accordingly. You can find this setting page under the Collections, Challenges and Gifts section of the preferences: https://archiveofourown.org/users/[YOUR USERNAME HERE]/preferences

CHECKING “Allow others to give me gift works outside gift exchanges and prompt memes.” means you can receive extra gifts for Trick or Treat.
UNCHECKING “Allow others to give me gift works outside gift exchanges and prompt memes.” means you cannot receive extra gifts even within the exchange collection.

Old accounts have the setting checked already; newer accounts are opted out by default. If you aren’t sure, please double-check to make sure the setting is as you want it.

Hi! I signed up for trick or treat (under Scorpiod) but my sign-up seems to have duplicated. I was wondering if there was a way to fix it, or do I need to delete my sign-up and re-sign up again? Thank you!

I'm trying to sign up but I'm encountering an issue when it comes to the offers. I want to add withering heights to my offers which it allows me to do but the character list for that fandom will not load even when I start typing the name Catherine? I've tried multiple times ans I'm not sure what to do? Thanks

I've had that before, where the characters/pairings won't come up, even if they're in the tagset. If that happens, you should just be able to copy and paste them in, or type them in fully, and they'll be accepted after you press enter.

I was going to sign up and I notice the relationship choice seems to be at the choosing the trick or treat and what media section and no relationship bar. This might be on purpose or I'm misunderstanding something (as I tend to do) but checking in on that just in case.

Not the mod, but yes, this is correct and on purpose. The Relationships field is just being used for that, this is pretty typical for a lot of exchanges.

You can request it if someone else nominated and it's in the tag set! But you can't add requests that aren't in the tag set.

They are totally in the tag set! I just forgot them when nominating myself and when I dropped the menu down for offers was like *facepalm*
