I don't know what is wrong.  I've run many exchanges, not just under this name.  I've never had so many issues in the past.  I went through almost the entire MCU section, I had figured out how I wanted to sort them out and everything.  I hit submit and they're all gone.  Even things that I hadn't accepted or rejected are gone.  Only a small handful of tags remain from it.  I've never had anything like this happen before.  I'm worried that tags from Silmarillion were lost as well (did you know 20 accounts nominated it).

Everything was almost done too.  All that was left was MCU, Tolkein, Dragon Age and a few odds and ends.  Then I just would have had to do the fixes and we'd be ready to go.

If you nominated something under MCU and it isn't showing up under any of the other related fandoms like then please post here with your characters.  If you nominated Silmarillion please post if all your characters are in the tagset.

I'm going to poke my co-mod about this also (because they did most if not all of the heavy lifting), but I wanted to at least note that you're not alone with recent experience with fuxxored AO3 nom tags.

We had (in August) tags disappearing, hopping fandoms despite being hand-placed, and even duplicating across two fandoms nominated by the one person (thus freezing their ability to add to their nom list).

I think something's gone massively screwy with AO3's exchange code, and getting worse.

Pretty much everything taichara said. I did e-mail AO3's support, though I didn't hear back til after nominations had ended and all I was told was that the exchange code is due to be reviewed and all the issues we experienced would be passed along to the coders.

I ended up having to hand-enter/re-enter quite a few nominations (and then edit) to get characters where they needed to be, etc. and even then had a lot of issues with wanderers. I am not 100% sure if anything disappeared, but we definitely had tags changing names and wandering after we'd approved them a very specific way to get them in specific spots. And a related fandom magically re-naming itself which broke a participant's nomination form midway through everything.

pumpkinkingmod, I offer all the sleepy hugs and support. You are doing a great job and I hope everything can be sorted out quickly.

Hey, I nominated MCU and I'd like to say, don't worry about it, it's okay, I personally don't mind at all.

I just checked my nominations, and everything's still there, it's just that for some reason all my MCU nominations are now listed under the fandom "MCU - Avengers Connected". A couple of them have been migrated to different tags, e.g. "Clint Barton (AC)" when I asked for "Clint Barton", but the rest are just listed as unreviewed.

I'm going to take a wild shot in the dark and suppose the same thing happened to others, too, so none of the nominations are actually lost, they're just listed under different Marvel fandoms (or Tolkien, for Silmarillion). So if you just mass-hit accept on all the Tolkien tags, and then ask someone to help you sort out which Tolkien character actually belongs in Silmarillion, everything should work out (: I don't mind helping if you need it!

For MCU, maybe all the tags ran over to MCU - AC. Then all you'll need to do is put them back in MCU.

Oh, hey, look: I just spotted "Darcy Lewis", "James "Bucky" Barnes" and "Laura Barton" under "Unassociated Characters & Relationship". These look like they used to belong to MCU - Laura Barton is definitely an MCU-only character.

Edit: I just Googled "MCU - Avengers Connect" because it's currently listed under "Uncategorized Fandoms" and I want to know what this is, and it turns out this fandom doesn't actually exist (unless Google's mistaken). Which in turn would mean we've just found all the missing MCU characters/nominations.

Further edit: there are 86 accepted nominations listed under Silmarillion, which sounds pretty fair if 20 accounts nominated it (that's 4 per account assuming no overlap). I don't think these went missing.

I know about the ones in Unassociated. The ones that disappeared are like soldiers from Captain America, some of the villains, a few Ant-Man characters I as moving over to there, etc.

Avengers Connected is what I was doing. I wanted to make it clear that I was just grouping the movies that starred various members of the Avengers together.

My Silmarillion nominations were accepted and appear in the tagset.

My MCU nominations are all over the board and, as starry_wolf pointed out, listed under MCU-Avengers Connected in my nominations page. Loki is listed in the tagset under MCU - Avengers Connected. Jane Foster and Natasha Romanov are listed under Marvel 616. Thor, Frigga, and Steve Rogers are not listed anywhere and neither are they rejected. (There are more non-616 noms under 616, too, but they aren't my noms.)

On a different note, I've noticed Clark Kent (Smallville) got scattered everywhere for no reason. It's currently listed under DCU (Comics), Superman - All Media Types, Justice League & Justice League Unlimited (Cartoons) (together with Lex Luthor (Smallville)), DCU (Comics) creating duplicates as Clark Kent was also nominated under all of them.
